"Sunshine on a Stem" Wood Sculpture In the style of 1960s Venezuelan sculptor Marisol Escobar, I carved and assembled 2 basswood blocks with dowels to imply how the human form consists of various proportional elements. After sculpting and sanding, I added a straw sailor hat and pair of saddle shoes from my youth to add a personal touch to the piece. Finally, I painted, stained, and drew on other features of my statuette to create a final work of abstract expressionism.
"The Peaceful Warrior" A full bust of a model done in gray water-based modeling clay.
"Voids in Space" Starting from a large block of plaster, I carved away more than half of its mass to create a rough edged, coral-esque, organic piece. It is kept in its raw form to highlight the natural textural qualities.
